Telling my parents at Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving!

My parents came to Vegas for Thanksgiving (since we are going to Dallas for Christmas) and Val and I were so excited to tell them our news! We had a great time exploring City Center and seeing all Christmas Decor at the various hotels!

Mom and I at City Center:

I wanted to break the news over the Thanksgiving meal but since we aren't telling the children till we are in the 2nd trimester we had to find some alone time with them!

Our Thanksgiving Table and the place settings I made:

We did finally have some alone time with my parents on Friday night so the 4 of us went to Austin's (our favorite local steakhouse) and when it was time to make the toast I toasted to our whole family including a new baby Johnson due in July! There were hugs and tears all around and it was a really special way to end the holiday weekend!

Happy Thanksgiving

Val and I feel so lucky to have my parents in town and (almost) all his immediate family joining us for Thanksgiving dinner!

Double chocolate brownies swirled with carmel and peanut butter-

Panchetta Mashed potatoes!

The table all set for dinner-

All the pies I made (so everyone got thier favorite)

Hope all of you had a wonderful day- I can't believe this time next year we will have a 4 month old baby at our table!

Scheduled 1st Dr. Appointment and Ultra Sound!

First Ultrasound
Yay!! I was finally able to get through to the people at Maternal Fetal Medicine to have my ultrasound scheduled! Ok, well it seemed like forever because I was super anxious and impatient, but whatever... So, I go in for my first look at our Little Sprout/Sweet Pea on:

Dec. 20th at 10am!

Going off of the conception date, I should be around 6 weeks and 3 days, but I'm not for sure about that. They will be checking to make sure that the pregnancy is viable (that there is growth and a heartbeat) and calculate my due date. I'm so excited!!

Also, it will be interesting to see if the gender predictor thing concerning the placenta position is correct. The "theory" is that there is some kind of relationship between the placental position and the gender of the child. This is how it breaks down:

97.2% of male fetuses had a chorionic villi/placental location on the right side of the uterus
97.5% of female fetuses had a chorionic villi/placental location on the left side of the uterus

**Note with this: trans-abdominal ultrasounds are a mirror image so if it appears on the left in your ultrasound picture, it's actually on the right IRL. This doesn't apply to trans-vaginal ultrasounds.**

So, I pulled out my old pictures from the boys, and it was correct with them. Looks like with almost everyone who was polled on my BabyCenter forum for this also showed that this was correct for their past pregnancies. I'm not going to rely on it to determine gender for me for sure, but I thought it was an interesting theory nonetheless. It's a good way to pass the time. :)

Only 11 days and counting down until we get to see our 3rd baby! I'm so excited! I hope to announce the pregnancy by the end of the month once I've met with my midwife!

A little background on us!

A little background for those that don't know- We were married at the Maui Ritz Carlton in December of 2008 and we knew we wanted a child together from the beginning so from that point on we pulled the proverbial goalie (lol) to see what would happen!

And pretty much nothing happened so after a lot of heartache and praying we decided on my 29th birthday (Oct 17th 2010) that we would try for 6 more months and if it didn't happen then it just wasn't meant to be...

Little did I know that 2 weeks (to the day) later when my ovulation test came up positive on Oct 31st that it would finally be the month we got pregnant!
So Val and I are pretty much certain this will be our first and only child together... I have a son who is 8 (Brady) and Val has 4 daughters all older than Brady so it is a FULL house! Which makes this pregnancy that much more special and exciting, so if I go a little overboard now you know why!
