15 Weeks!!

How far along?: 15 weeks
Total weight gain: Gained 1/2 a pound this week- Probably all in my face! So total gain is 2.5 pounds.
How big is baby?:
According to BabyCenter, the baby is about the size of a of an orange...
Maternity clothes?: Not Yet... They are hanging in the closet waiting for me to "pop"
Sleep?: Getting harder... I am a belly sleeper so trying to switch to my side has been a pain!
Best moment this week?: My sweet hubby driving to get me 3 slices of different cake after I mentioned watching that show "Cake Boss" had me craving CAKE!
Food cravings?: Still the sweet stuff- chocolate, brownies, CAKE!!!
Any Baby Movement?: Felt some movements, hoping it keeps up!
Any Labor signs?: No Way!
Belly button in or out?: In.
What I miss: Sleeping on my belly!
What I'm looking forward to: Gender Confirmation on the 31st!
Personal Milestone: I can see the baby bump growing more and more, hoping I will need maternity clothes soon because I have some cute ones!
Baby Milestone: Continuing the march towards normal proportions, baby's legs now outmeasure the arms. And, finally, all four limbs have functional joints. Your fetus is squirming and wiggling like crazy down in the womb, though you probably still can't feel the movements.

Another Crazy Gender Predictor

According to Val we have reached the peeing on strange chemicals part of my pregnancy... One of the only gender tests I did with Brady was the Draino Test and it was right for him! So once again I broke out the crystal draino put it into a glass, added a urine sample then closed the patio door to watch the reaction (the fumes can be toxic so never do this inside). I got a pretty cool pic through the glass door and the Aqua/Green color means GIRL!!

BEST Husband Ever!!

This is why I have the BEST husband ever... he knew I was thinking about cake earlier (after watching a marathon of that Cake Boss show) so when he went out to fill up my car with gas (so I wouldn't have to do it before the gym tomorrow) he came home with a sampler of cakes from the bakery inside Jerry's Nugget.

Poor Preggo me gave him the cheesecake (yuck) and had the white chocolate and peanut butter chocolate cakes to myself (wa-ha-ha-ha)!

Baby Milestone: Your adorable little fetus is busy with thumb sucking, toe wiggling, and (not so cute but equally amazing) making urine and breathing amniotic fluid as the liver, kidneys and spleen continue to develop. Lanugo (thin, downy hair) is growing all over the body for warmth.

Gender Prediction For the Week!

This one is Super Cool!! The native American Hairline Test

From the My Little Monkeys Blog-
I have found the secret to baby gender prediction, though. It has worked for me every single time, and it's worked on everyone I know. I have a blogger friend that asked us to guess what she was having before she went in for her ultrasound. With one answer to one question, I was able to acurately predict what she was having.

I suppose you want to know the secret, right? Hmmm...... maybe I should consider selling it for $30. :) I'd be rich!

All right, all right. I'll share my secret with you. BUT, it only works if you already have a child. If this is your first baby, I'm sorry, but I can't help you. I have yet to figure out how to determine the sex of the first baby. But, if this is your second, third, fourth, or even fourteenth child, I'll bet I can predict what you're having.

If this is your second child, look at the back of the neck of your first born. Does the hairline across the back of the neck go straight across, or come to a point? If the hairline goes straight across, your baby will be the same gender that your first born is. So, if your first born is a boy, you'll be having another boy. If the hairline goes to a point, your baby will be the opposite gender of what your firstborn is. So, if your first born is a boy, you'll be having a girl!

It's that easy!

And, just to prove I'm not joking, here are the hairlines of my first 4 kids:

Ashley

Zander

Jace

Lucy

Notice that Ashley's is a point. That meant we would have a boy next. We did. Zander's hairline is straight across, which meant we'd have another boy. We did. Jace's hair comes to a point, which meant we'd be blessed with another girl. Which we were. And, Lucy's hair also came to a point which meant that we'd have a little boy next. It was right, and we had Parker. Parker's hair also comes to a point, so if we were to have another baby, it looks like it would be another girl.

I learned this secret from a friend when I was pregnant with Jace. Apparently it's an old Native American legend, and that's how they predicted what the next baby would be in the tribe. Amazing, isn't it?

Now, go check your kids and tell me if I'm right. So far I have a 100% prediction rating. If it doesn't work for you, let me know!I'd like to know if the legend doesn't hold true all the time.

Here is Brady's Hairline:

Clearly it comes to a point so that means: GIRL!!! We shall see at the end of the month!

Best moment this week?: Took a trip to USA Baby and Babies R Us to start looking at cribs!

New Jellybean Pics!

We had a great weekend here at the Johnson House! After our 13 week appointment with Dr. Spoon we went in for an elective "heartbeat check" ultrasound at http://www.miracleinprogress.com/ so we could get a good glimpse of the Jellybean at 13 weeks:
The Jellybean looked great and was kicking and stretching and then doing karate chops near his/her face (like in the pic below)! Val commented that it looked like the Jellybean had my cute upturned nose too!
Another reason I wanted to be sure to get an u/s image at 13 weeks was because I wanted to check it against the "Nub Theory" as the most ideal timeline for this gender check is between 12-14 weeks. For more information on early gender determination based on the location of the nub check out the very bottom of this link: http://www.baby2see.com/gender/external_genitals.html

Basically at around 13 weeks all babies have a nub for genitals and the angle/position of the nub this early tells which gender it is going to morph into.

So a Boy Nub looks like this:
And the Girl Nub looks like this:
The theory says that if the nub is parallel to the spine like this then the assumption is GIRL and when I asked the tech she said she was 80% sure it was a girl (but not to paint the nursery yet)!

I added my own lines to my pic so you can see where the nub is right below the top line almost pointing downwards and a parallel with the 2nd line going along the spine.
We get our gender confirmation ultrasound on the 31st when I am 15 weeks but I just thought I would share my excitement and maybe shed some light on the nub theory that I have been "nubsessing" over!!

Another Crazy Gender Predictor!

So I saw a post about the Best Baby Predictor on one of the baby boards I read and since every test EXCEPT the Intelligender has said girl and because this company is offering their test FREE (you only pay shipping of $10) I figured it would be worth a try!!

So the test came in the mail yesterday and when I did the test this morning I got a Green Result which means GIRL!

"Crazy" Gender Predictor of the Week!

Needle or Wedding Ring Gender Prediction Method

Directions- This an easy baby gender prediction method to try. Take a pin, needle, or wedding ring and attach it to a thread or strand of hair. Hold the dangling item over mom to be's belly while she is lying down. If the needle or wedding ring swings in a strong circular motion, you will be having a girl. If it moves in a to and fro motion like a pendulum, you will be having a boy.

An alternate version of this baby gender prediction method is to dangle the needle or wedding ring over the expectant mom's wrist instead of belly.

My Results- This one was easy, and when I held my ring on a string over my belly and wrist it clearly went in circles THE GIRL RESULT and not side to side.

Since my ring is pretty large (and heavy) I once again pulled Val into my madness and made him use his ring on a string and had him hold it and once again it went in circles saying GIRL.

12 Weeks Today!

How far along?: 12 weeks
Total weight gain: Gained almost a pound this week- So total gain is back to about 1 pound.
How big is baby?:
According to BabyCenter, the baby is about the size of a lime- just over 2 inches long and weighs half an ounce.
Maternity clothes?: Not Yet... They are hanging in the closet waiting for me to "pop"
Sleep?: Better this week since I stopped drinking water 1hr before bed, I wake up thirsty but no more 3 am bathroom trips.
Best moment this week?: Starting to buy baby items! I signed up on "Amazon Mom" and am getting a delivery of diapers and wipes each month at prices lower than Costco. This way we will always have a stockpile on hand!
Food cravings?: Baked Potatoes!! I ate 4 in one day on Friday, lol. With tons of salt, butter and cheese of course- now that I think about it maybe I am craving Butter and Cheese and the potato is just a vehicle to get me the good stuff!
Any Baby Movement?: None yet!
Any Labor signs?:
No Way!
Belly button in or out?: In.
What I miss: Having a waist!
What I'm looking forward to: Getting a baby bump!
Personal Milestone: 12 weeks is considered the "safe" point to share the news with family and friends but we are going to wait till our next OB appointment at 13 weeks to do that!
Baby Milestone: Your baby's fingers will soon begin to open and close, his toes will curl, his eye muscles will clench, and his mouth will make sucking movements. In fact, if you prod your abdomen, your baby will squirm in response, although you won't be able to feel it.

Baby Milestone: She's already busy kicking and stretching, and her tiny movements are so effortless they look like water ballet. These movements will become more frequent as her body grows and becomes more developed and functional.
